Society of Women Engineer (SWE) Tower of Power 

Watch teams of Hopkins engineering students and Baltimore city school students compete to build the tallest towers out of dry pasta noodles and marshmallows. Teams must register in advance.

WSE’s 14th Annual Speed Networking Night 

The Whiting School of Engineering invites you to attend the 14th annual Speed Networking Night. During this event, students will meet with different alumni as they rotate through a series of seven-minute, in-person, one-on-one, speed-networking sessions. These sessions offer students the opportunity to practice their “elevator pitch” and receive feedback on how to improve and make the best possible first impression.

Star Trek, Science Fiction and the Future

Hopkins at Home: Dean’s Notebook series kicks off 2025 with an engaging live webinar featuring Ed Schlesinger, Benjamin T. Rome Dean of the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Science fiction often predicts technological and societal developments with surprising accuracy. Dean Schlesinger will consider how some predictions within science fiction works align with real-world advancements and describe how some developments have profound implications for society now and in the future.

Night at the Museum for WSE Graduate Students 

This event is specifically designed for Whiting School of Engineering graduate students during National Engineers Week. The purpose is to bring together WSE leadership, alumni, and graduate students to network, connect and have fun while exploring the fascinating exhibits at the Maryland Science Center. This event is for graduate students only!

WSE faculty, staff and alumni are welcomed and invited to attend. Wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres served. All attendees must register.

GreenHacks Innovation Challenge Spring 2025

GreenHacks is hosting our Sustainability Innovation/Venture/Startup Challenge themed FLOWING FORWARD: Sustaining Our Water Use for Tomorrow on Feb 21-22, 2025 at the Pava Center.

The innovation challenge is a competitive forum designed to support, motivate, and mentor aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs in their startup ideas. Students work in teams to pitch a solution that targets sustainability challenges head-on. Solutions can come in any form ranging from strategic business proposals, cutting-edge mobile applications, functional prototypes, and so on.

The event will kick off with the opening ceremony on Friday, Feb. 21, at 4pm. Project pitch presentations and judging is on Saturday, Feb. 22, afternoon after a full day of hacking, workshops, and networking opportunities. More details and the schedule will be posted at: greenhacksjhu.com.

You may come to the competition with a team in mind, but all teams (maximum 5 members) will be officially formed and finalized on Friday. We will have time on Friday for team mingling/formation for individuals.
